New Fiction

Maroon Cove is a cozy romance about the healing power of people and places.

Maroon Cove, by Ellen K. Duffield

Drained and disillusioned by the superficiality of her work and relationships in the city, and having nowhere else to go, wanna-be writer Sarah packs everything and moves to Prince Edward Island – which feels like the edge of the world.

She chooses a village spontaneously, drawn by the storyteller’s group, and buys an old house sight unseen. As out of character as those decisions were for her, she soon discovered they were just what she needed to start again. Salty sea air, unlikely friendships, ceilidhs and clam bakes began to work their magic, and soon Sarah finds herself in a very real place that somehow made it possible to believe in fairies that masqueraded as young children, wise old crones who lived by the sea and the healing power of words, place and people. Yet even that would not have been enough to keep her if it hadn’t been for Lilly’s accident.

A delightful tale about a lost woman who finds a community, and in the process, herself. The dialogue, scenery and experience-rich manuscript is a perfect summer read or download the guide to make it into a great girls club book club.
